First of all, I would like to thank you for your kind assistance on this forum, which has helped me prepare for the various stages of my visa application. A few days ago, I received an email from the organisation responsible for visa submissions requesting additional information from the consulate. I would like to create a new message to detail my file and receive your feedback on the documents I could attach, as well as my chances of obtaining the visa.

Indeed, the consul is asking me to provide professional proof regarding my resources as well as the last three statements of my bank account.

Here is the information concerning the financial aspect of my file:

  • AVI of €7400 (€616/month) indicating account blocking information and irrevocable transfer in an SG bank (account opened specifically for the reliability of the bank which is French)

I have been employed for 3 years and the chosen course is a master’s degree in a recognised school to specialise in a field that is a logical continuation or complement to my master’s degree obtained 2 years ago.

I would like to specify that the amount blocked in the account is partly from my salary savings (approximately €2100). The rest comes from transfers received from 2 friends.

  • Do you think I need to provide an explanatory letter in addition to the requested documents explaining (my background, my study project, the complementary origin of my funds knowing that my salary is equivalent to €400)?

  • Have you ever encountered this case?

In which city did you complete your procedure? Besides the AVI, what other documents did you include in your file? Were the transfers made directly to your bank account or separately?

Because you can include your bank statement, your payslips, and since one can never be too careful, an explanatory letter stating that you received financial support from family for the additional funds. At least, it is quite common for the consulate, during the processing of a file, to request additional information.

Besides the AVI, what other documents did you include in your file?

Only the AVI from SG for the financial aspect. I don’t have a guarantor. For the accommodation aspect, I provided the legalised accommodation certificate + Copy of the ID card of the person hosting me + Property tax and electricity bills.

Were the transfers made directly into your bank account or separately?

Yes, I received 2 separate transfers from my 2 friends directly into the new SG account. In my old current account, I only have salary payments, my savings, and of course withdrawal transactions to fund the SG account to gather the amount for the AVI.

Yes, that’s what I plan to do:

  • Statements from the 2 accounts so they can identify my salaries, identify the transfers (in cash from account to account) to the SG.
  • Payslips
  • An explanatory letter mentioning the help received from the family to supplement my personal savings.

I hope that the support from my friends will not be a reason to justify a refusal for reason 2. And that they won’t interpret it as: « It’s borrowed money to inflate the account and that I will return it after obtaining the visa! Â»

@Andrew @Dona_Stid Do you think this could be a reason for refusal? In that case, what supporting documents could I add to reassure that this is not the case and that these are indeed financial supports? For me, the AVI from a blocked account serves as proof that the money can only be released under the conditions that have been mentioned.

Hello @Marcus93 By definition, an Irrevocable Transfer Certificate (AVI) for studies can only be released on a monthly or quarterly basis, precisely because it is meant to address the issue of « account inflation Â». Moreover, it is by no means forbidden to borrow money to finance one’s studies; on the contrary, it is common practice in France. What to do? Simply add the statements of the friends in question. Your explanatory letter should help clarify things for the person who has to process your file.

Our advice: Scan your passport and the pages containing visas. Send them to yourself by email. This way, in case of loss or theft of your documents, you will have a backup!

Hello Marcus I had some information to ask you, would it be possible to provide an image of your irrevocable transfer certificate made to Société Générale, because I am encountering a problem in this regard, yesterday while discussing with my manager with the aim of creating a blocked account, she informed me that Société Générale does not issue irrevocable transfer certificates but only certificates of support.

Good evening @Dona_Stid I have made an AVI from a parent’s savings account. Over the last 4 months, there have been no withdrawals from the account except to pay the AVI. The account has sufficient funds for a charge of 620*12, which has been done. However, I do not have payslips or payroll records to accompany the documents because the parent works in a freelance profession, nonetheless, I have added a certificate issued by the government for authorisation to practise. Would this cause any issues??? Please, your opinion
