What are the most common reasons for visa refusal? In the previous video, we covered reasons 1 (the travel document is false/forged) and reason 2 (). In this video, we will look at reasons 3 and 4 for student visa refusal in France. I’ll explain this to you and especially how to avoid them after this transition. — Reason 3: « You have not justified your admission to a higher education institution or a vocational training organisation to pursue a course of study there! »
Generally, for this reason, the problem is not the absence of enrolment, but the credibility of the institution. Always ensure that you present an enrolment issued by an authorised institution, a recognised institution in France. How can you tell if a school is recognised by the State? Check official sources: • Ministry of National Education: Consult the directory of institutions to see if the school is listed. • RNCP: If it is a vocational training, ensure that the diploma is registered in the National Directory of Professional Certifications. • Contact the school directly: Request accreditations and authorisations. • Inquire with the certifying body: Contact the body that issues the diploma. • Check online reviews: Testimonials from former students can be useful, but be critical.
Reason 4: « You have not presented sufficient elements to allow the consular authority to ensure that your stay in France for study purposes would not be abusive or There are sufficiently convincing elements and serious reasons to establish that you will stay in France for purposes other than those for which you are applying for a study visa »
Although difficult to understand, this reason is very common and hardly variable. Sometimes, it can be visible through an unfavourable SCAC opinion, a poorly constituted file, or one that genuinely presents an abusive character. The difference between the role of Campus France and the consulate is clearly apparent here. The former has an almost educational and administrative role, in the sense that it examines the ins and outs of the student’s educational project, and supports them in their various procedures, while the consulate acts as a filter for immigration and student mobility.
To avoid this reason for refusal, make sure that your study project is consistent with your previous background and professional project, and above all, defend this well during the Campus France interview to get a favourable SCAC opinion.
Reason 4 is THE most difficult reason to overturn. But like any visa refusal, it can be overturned. In 2019, Kevine, a young Cameroonian student, had a visa refusal for reason 4. Imagine the stress. But eventually, she managed to overturn this reason and obtained a student visa a few months later.
