The prestigious French Morning London announces an unmissable digital event, a free online fair, reserved for French-speaking students residing overseas. It is also aimed at those who are considering, or wish to revisit their steps towards France to pursue higher education. During this week, participants will be offered the opportunity to explore a dozen French higher education institutions through presentations categorised by type. Additionally, a session will be dedicated to a detailed explanation of how Parcoursup and Campus France work. The conference programme includes exciting topics such as Parcoursup and Campus France, offering an in-depth understanding of the registration procedures in France. The week will revolve around these presentations, starting on Monday, 13th November at 5pm with an exploration of engineering schools, followed on Wednesday, 15th November at 5pm by a session on becoming an animal osteopath, presented by IFOA. The festivities will continue on Thursday, 16th November at 5pm with the first part of the discovery of bachelor programmes in business schools, with UCO, ESCP, and NEOMA Business School. Finally, the week will conclude in style on Friday, 17th November at 5pm with the second part of the exploration of bachelor programmes in business schools. This week of intellectual enrichment will take place from 13th to 17th November 2023, and registration is free.
Continuing our exploration in French lands, Français à l’Étranger invites us to a monthly discovery of the inspiring journeys of former international students, commonly known as « alumni », who have traversed the paths of higher education in France and forged unbreakable ties with this country. In partnership with Campus France, the site highlights the journey of one of these alumni each month. For October 2023, we discover the fascinating journey of Niranjan Raghavan, who has already spent five years in France after an academic career in India and the United States. Upon completing his studies in France, Niranjan joined ERM (Environmental Resources Management), the largest sustainable development consultancy in the world. He currently holds the position of project manager in the field of finance and renewable energy. Asked about his academic, personal, social, and professional journey, Niranjan shares with us the reasons that led him to choose France, his post-study experience, and the memorable moments of his arrival. He also reveals the motivation that prompted him to remain in France after his studies.
Meanwhile, Le Figaro Étudiant proudly announces the celebration of the success of the international business volunteering (VIE) at the recruitment forum, held at the Carreau du Temple in Paris. Launched in the year 2000 following the abolition of national service, this programme is experiencing a meteoric rise, with already 100,000 young people having seized the opportunity to participate. Accessible to young people aged 18 to 28, without any prior diploma requirement in principle, the VIE remains, in practice, a path reserved for the elite, as 75% of participants come from prestigious schools. Moreover, 90% of the missions offered are intended for holders of a master’s degree. According to Laurent Saint-Martin, director general of Business France, each candidate has an equal chance, particularly those who are proficient in foreign languages, notably English, and another language. The five most sought-after countries for VIE are Belgium, the United States, Canada, Spain, and Germany. In terms of allowances, the average received is 2500 euros in Europe and 2900 euros in the rest of the world.
Le Parisien invites us on an exciting journey to the heart of humanitarian actions carried out by committed students, determined to push boundaries to realise humanitarian projects. Initiated by Louise, a student at the School of International and Political Studies (HEIP) in Paris-La Défense, we discover the poignant story of their first humanitarian project in Nepal, which left an indelible mark. Louise and her team from the Huma Omnes association travel to remote areas such as Ringmu, Salabesi, and Tumbuk in Nepal. In these villages, they dedicate themselves to renovating infrastructure and providing tutoring. Their next mission will take them to Togo, with the noble goal of bringing electricity to an isolated village by installing solar panels. To fund this ambitious project, Louise and her team organise an endurance race and set up a series of events, such as clothing sales, crepe sales, and even a Togolese buffet, to raise funds from businesses and the community.
On the other side, Ouest France shares the touching journey of Mahamat, a 21-year-old Chadian, an exemplary student who managed to obtain a residence permit in France, despite the obstacles that lined his path. Always involved in charitable works, Mahamat overcame the challenges related to his immigration status to obtain a residence permit, notably thanks to the valuable support of associations such as the Human Rights League in Lisieux, friends, and dedicated volunteers. Currently in his second year of management studies, Mahamat remains a source of inspiration for the associations that have supported him.Finally, Campus France Algeria announces the temporary closure of its services at its Hydra location. However, a new space is set to open its doors to warmly welcome students. During this transition period, advisors remain available to students via messaging in their personal space on the Études en France platform.
