Hello, I am a Cameroonian student who completed the Campus France procedure in Algeria. I received an acceptance and then went through the consular process, but unfortunately, my visa was refused for reason 2. Due to the lack of appointments for a second application in Algeria, I want to return to Cameroon to make another application. However, I have learned that this is not allowed since I have already made a first application in Algeria, is this true?

I understand you, the visa application situation can sometimes be complex. Usually, you are supposed to apply for your visa in your usual country of residence. If you were usually residing in Algeria during your first application, it makes sense that you applied there.
If you now wish to apply in Cameroon, you would need to prove that your usual place of residence is now Cameroon. Consulates generally verify the usual place of residence through the place of issuance of your passport, your school, your work, etc.

Moreover, for a student visa application, let’s say in Yaoundé, the consular services or their subcontractors need to have access to your Campus France file, which is not necessarily guaranteed. So if you wish to apply in Cameroon, here are the steps to follow:
- Decide whether you will apply in Yaoundé or Douala. You need to be able to justify why, and the lack of appointments in Algeria will not be too convincing. You need to find reasons related to your usual place of residence: for example: I am returning to Cameroon permanently, for x or y reason.
- Visit Campus France, and request that you wish for your file to be transferred to Yaoundé or Douala, which is now your place of residence.
- If Campus France agrees to transfer your file, you will be able to submit your visa application in Yaoundé.
